Missions of the Innovation Research Team

The Innovation Research team conducts multidisciplinary research to support the transition toward more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems. By combining experimental studies, modelling approaches and close collaboration with field stakeholders, the team addresses key challenges facing livestock and crop production.

Its main missions include:

  • Optimising agricultural systems by assessing the environmental impacts of farming practices (carbon and nitrogen balances, greenhouse gas emissions) and identifying innovative solutions to improve the sustainability of mixed crop–livestock systems.
  • Advancing animal growth and performance management through detailed monitoring of physiological development, nutrition and productivity, with the aim of improving efficiency, reducing non-productive phases and enhancing overall herd performance.
  • Innovating in animal feeding and forage systems by exploring new feed resources, alternative forages and diversified cropping systems, particularly those adapted to climate change, to strengthen farm autonomy and resilience.
  • Supporting climate adaptation and knowledge transfer by working closely with farmers, advisors and technical partners to co-design practical solutions, disseminate research findings and contribute to technical references through scientific publications and professional outreach.
